Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) - Vodder Technique
What is MLD?
MLD is an extremely gentle non-invasive therapy which promotes a healthy lymphatic system (the body's defence mechanism).
The lymphatic system helps to protect the body against infection, transports nutrients to cells, and clears metabolic waste, toxins and excess fluid from the body.
Very precise rhythmic movements are made over the skin; this stimulates lymph vessels allowing the flow of lymph to improve and for excess fluid, toxins and waste products to drain away. This treatment has an extremely calming effect on the nervous system which encourages deep relaxation.
MLD was developed in the 1930s by Dr Emil Vodder, and is now practised in hospitals and clinics across Europe.
